Inventory of Hazard Material Regulation (IHM)

Timeline

  • EU-flagged newbuilding’s are required to have on board a verified IHM with a Statement of Compliance at the earliest by 31 December 2015 and at the latest by 31 December 2018.
  • Existing EU-flagged vessels are required to have on board a verified IHM with a Statement of Compliance at the latest by 31 December 2020 (or if the ship is to be recycled, the IHM should be on board from the date when the European list of ship recycling facilities was first published, 19 December 2016).
  • Non-EU-flagged vessels calling at EU ports are also required to have on board a verified IHM with a Statement of Compliance at the latest by 31 December 2020.

What IHM Part III Means:

Inventory Hazard Material Part III, is the list of Material Categorized as Dangerous according to IMO Guideline and IMDG Code, that are actually in stock in Ship Stores.

The Inventory Hazard Material Part III must be kept updated for Inspection, and ready to be deliver to the Recycling Facilities once the decision to Recycle the Ship has been taken.

IHM Part III in AMOS

An approach for capturing this information is to register an IHM Category in the Stock Grade. Stock Grades are used to add extra information to stock types, and can indicate items on purchasing forms, which require special provisions, such as dangerous goods. Keeping track of the IHM Stock enables you to create an up to date detailed Inventory of hazardous material report.

The regulation request to capture the below information which can be easily extracted from AMOS.

An IHM Category can be configured as a Stock Grade Category, and the properties can be utilised as the indicators on the Stock type.

 

Applying this to the stock type allows multiple configuration to accurately document IHM items.

This will give the user the following information when viewing the stock item:

It is possible to filter stock item is possible by the category and the grade.

This will retrieve the list of Inventory of hazardous material.

Reports can be Generated with all the details for the Inventory Hazardous Material.
