The SFI Technical Coding Solution is the most widely used classification system for maritime and offshore industries. It is an international standard providing a functional subdivision of technical and financial information, which can be applied to all aspects of a vessel or rig.

The code, originally developed by the Ship Research Institute of Norway and now owned by SpecTec, is the most common standard used in maritime asset management systems. The SFI Code is recognised by shipping and offshore companies, shipyards, consultancies, software suppliers, authorities and classification societies, who use it to describe the main and sub functions required to operate a vessel safely.

The SFI Code can make a significant contribution to producing standardised and well-ordered information related to ships/rigs, leading to improved communication both within your company and among external parties.
